Birthday Parties Galore!

Hello there!

Thanks for stopping by the blog! For this blog post, I wanted to focus on birthday parties. Now, I have photographed my share of birthday parties in the past; but for this post I'm going to be posting some of my latest images that I captured in March of this year. I photographed two birthday parties (a brother & sister combo) Both parties were two weeks apart.

Alder's party was first..he turned 4. He was an adorable little boy that greeted me by grabbing onto my hand as soon as I entered their home...he was so excited to show me his bithday cake! The party was a firetruck & train themed party...what 4 year old wouldn't love that??

For Anya's party,  she was turning 7 ..the older big sister. Her party was a Curious George themed party, with a spash of art and color! The kids had their very own art class in the garage. Such a lovely idea!

I had a blast photographing both of these parties. I must say that I was spoiled with being able to photgraph in such a great home, that this family welcomed me into. Super artsy home, with lots of great natural light soming through lots & lots of windows...I was in a photographer's playground!

I wanted to share a few tips for photographer's that may be photographing birthday parties:

Tips:

- Birthday parties are usually for the kiddos, interact with them when you first meet them, build their comfort level with you. This will make them more comfortable in front of the camera.
- If the kiddo is shy, try to catch the little moments when they arent looking ...that's when their best smiles shine.
- Look for the best window light! Lighting is everything...it can make or break a photo.
- A wide angle lens will be your best friend for birthday parties!
- Don't forget the detail shots! The gift wrap shot that I captured below shows the little note a sister wrote to her little brother in crayon...so sweet.
- One last thing: have fun!!

Enjoy these images!
